As we close in on virtually a full year of lockdown periods, the education system is continuing to attempt to facilitate learning in the same way albeit in a remote and virtual way.
The impacts and challenges for young people are mounting and the disconnection between student and teacher due to strains on delivery and the rising awareness of digital disadvantage opposes many principles regarding marginalisation from the Education Act.
opportunity to encourage the voice of young people relating to their experience and co-create a reduced focus on the failing meritocracy is in reach with sustained change in approach.
I have been very lucky to contribute and have a couple of chapters in the ‘Combatting Marginalisation’ book, that uses an equalities literacy model to listen and enable a blended skills set from both formal and informal education to enhance young people’s experience of their education. We can legreat deal about how we should be responding from young people.
